we wish to use ivermectin for deworming some of the ewes who are in early stages of pregnancy. Are there any contraindications? If Yes, kindly suggest the literature on it.
ruminants tolerate ivermectin well. However it is excreted in milk. You may read the following links and decide after reading. I hope these helps http://parasitipedia.net/index.php?
Hello, there is no problem with the drug but be carefull with the handle (injuries or stress) of cattle during the aplication for the pregnant males (ovien, caprine or bovine) during the firt trimester...albendazol its dangerous during the first 25 days, specially in ovines
The answers have cleared my doubt over a case of signs of early pregnancy loss I witnessed after deworming a gilt with no obvious signs of pregnancy with ivermectin. Other pregnant sows in the same farm treated with ivermectin did not show any sign of abortion.
There was however a suspected case of snake attack in the same farm, as another pig had swollen face and eyes and was bleeding (blood that is not clotting) from the eyes and nose.
