Hi DCE community,

I was wondering if someone came across innovative ways to determine attributes for Discrete Choice Experiments.

It is quite common to conduct workshops, interviews and to assess the relevant literature regarding a certain topic. Last year, Jensen (2019) used Q-methodology to determine attributes for their survey, what I found particularly interesting. Did anyone come across similar alternative approaches? I am well familiar with Johnston et al (2017) and their guiding document to conduct stated preference surveys.

Empirical studies tend to be quite shy with respect to their attribute determination process. Mostly, there is one line saying: “we conducted two expert workshops to classify relevant attributes…”

Did anyone take an alternative avenue?

Cheers,

Chris
