I personally think the farmers are not getting or benefiting much because in most developing countries a lot of researches are being done and published on line by the "Think tanks", a few of these smallholder farmers can read and have access to the internet hence they cant access most of the published information. Due to poverty and poor governance there are few conferences being held to create an interface between think tanks and smallholder farmers...of the few conferences that are done most of them are too expensive for the ordinary smallholder farmer and are not well communicated to invite them. extention workers are then left with the burden of disseminating information which they can distort since they were not the researchers on the ground.
