I want to estimate Arginine content in Citrus leaves ,many researchers in Iraq estimate this value by multiplying N content in the leaves using the the formula
Arginine content = N *3.2
when I search for references agree with this measurement I failed to find any research used this formula.

this formula is usually used to calculate the amount of protein nitrogen, which is usually is not acceptable by most plant physiologists. to calculate,the amino acid arginine,then either an amino acid analyser,or paper or thin layer chromatography ,you contact the book of our Professor at Reading university, England,PHYTOCHEMICAL METHODS,2000,BY J.HARBORNE. we estimate proteins using the method of Lowery, and free amino acids using well known methods. i hope my comments are useful.
Yes , i agree with you Muayed , this is a method usually practiced for protein estimation , not for arginine , there is a standard protocol for estimation of different polyamines.
