Are the academic Researches in Business distant of the real problems of companies? Why? How researchers could do to positively change the reality of them?
In my humble opinion I a good part of researchers are moved by the necessity of publishing otherwise tenure track positions and academic-related jobs would hardly be feasible. Most journals are concerned with theory driven papers instead of good practical case studies. This imposes a clear gap between the points of view from corporate and academic worlds. To align theoretical contributions with practical implications the field would need to see beyond the traditional data modeling culture and to start giving value to sound case studies.
Hello! Maybe this happening because there's the low integration between research institutions and business. If we compare Brazil and others countries like France and Germany is simple to realize that this factor have influence on this relationship. But a lot of others can have some degree of influence, for example the subjectivism of researchers.
I believe it happens more than we think, and maybe the reason is because most of the academic reaserchers doesn't have experience working in real life companies. Most of the complainings I heard from the owners or companies managers is that the academics are giving theorical and not practical recommendations.

They can even be said to be away from the real problems of companies. To reduce this distance, companies need to be more involved in communication and interest in problem-solving, to support them, and to provide data on problems or the difficulties that they have during their business development. This would lead academic researchers towards real-world problems of companies.
