I have mouse faeces samples stored at -20°C, for about a year and a half, in non-hermetic plastic bags. I need to investigate the quantities of SCFA in these samples using gas chromatography. As these compounds are said to be volatile, I predict they could be absent after such a long period under the temperature and storage conditions mentioned.
I could do a test with a few samples but before spending time and materials I would like to hear if other scientists have experience with this.
Thank you all!
