I dont think so ...Bigger size of the fruits is a function of source-sink relationship with respect to nutrients and water. You mean juice content , instead of fleshiness..??
High density planting in perennial fruits is a big success , without these features....

In articles of the evolutionary theory, they stated that size change in both fruits and seeds through the fossil record has been attributed to coevolution with seed-dispersing animals (Tiffney, 1984), with this mutualistic relationship then driving the development of closed, forested habitats (large seeds are characteristic of closed plant communities) (Seymour et al., 2013).
Additionally, the significant correlations between fruit type and habitat conditions in a broad set of extant flowering plants was mentioned by Bolmgren and Eriksson (2005) and again Seymour et al. (2013) suggested that the evolution of fleshiness is related to changes in vegetation from open to closed habitats.
This is altogether a different issue Beemnet , when you change the original habitat. You collect a germplasm from a given habitat and grow it in a different habitat , called evaluation of germplasm , there could be a possibility , results could either way along...fleshiness could be one fruit quality attribute , likewise large seededness...but forested habitat is quite different to conventional agriculture field...

Dear Dr. Drlatief Ahmad , it is mentioned in the evolutionary hypothesis of flowering plants. The famous author Charles Darwin also said finally said that the evolution of angiosperms/flowering plants is an "Abominable Mystery".
