Are hospital susfaces devices reservoirs for drug resistant pathogens , how long?
It really depends on many factors.
1. Type of devices
2. Sanitation status of device before and after use. Disinfected vs non-disinfected, autoclaved vs non-autoclaved etc..
3. Type of microorganisms., e.g. spore forming bacteria vs non-spore forming etc..
Generally, it is good to disinfect or autoclave devices before use to minimize the spread of drug resistant strains.
