Are assessment of hemolysis by absorbance at A414nm or calculations by M.Harboe method necessary?

Even mouse plasma that has (by observing visually) absorbance higher than 0.3 at A414nm. According to publications, this is a high level of hemolysis in humans. Does the same cutting point (0.3) hold for mice?

Does anyone know a method of plasma collection that consistently showed low absorbance at 414nm/low hemolysis?
