I have run a nice linear regression test with control variables entered in step one (including culture), my main predictor variable of interest in step 2, plus interaction terms of my main predictor variable of interest x culture.

Now, I have significant results for the main effect - variable of interest on dependent variable.

Yet, I did not find any interaction effects of variable of interest x culture. As far as I am aware of regression interpretations this would mean that the variable of main interest has a predictive power on my dependent variable without being moderated by culture.

Yet, would it be still ok to split files by culture, just to see how strong the effect is displayed for each cultural group? Since the main effect in the regression analysis was found in the TOTAL sample, not for each cultural group.
