Greetings!
As a part of our research we would like to distinguish between classic monocyte-derived dendritic cells and thymic dendritic cells (both thymus-native and thymus-migratory) in human samples using flow cytometry. So far I'm struggling to find good markers that would distinguish between these subsets.
There are markers that distinguish between various intra-thymic DC populations (eg CD8alpha, CD11b, SIRPalpha, CD45RO etc, most of them published in mice), but nothing specific for ALL intra-thymic DCs as opposed to peripheral mDC (or monocyte-derived moDC).
Any ideas if there's a marker that could help?

There is a great number of specific markers for the different subpopulations of dendritic cells residing in the thymus: List would take too long.
Take a look at the site for markers of DC, www.dendritics.net. (Aptly named).

thank you for your response. However, I feel like perhaps you didn't fully understand my question. I was not asking about markers to distinguish between different subpopulations of thymic dendritic cells, but I search for a marker specific to ALL thymic dendritic cells, that would distinguish them from dendritic cells circulating through peripheral blood.
Any further comments are very welcome.
In the past we studied over 70 specific markers of dendritic cells from ALL of thymic origin. The only thing we have observed is a strong overexpression of certain genes such as Langerin, Sema 6A, DClamp or CD303. Each of these genes being characteristic of an ALL or another.
But these results are certainly currently incomplete.
