I have spinal cord cryosections where I would like to check the axonal regeneration after the spinal cord injury. We tried GAP 43 which seems to be not specific for regeneration in our case. Now we would like to try SCG10 and CAP-23 using IHC. I wonder if anyone have tried them before if so kindly let me know the details. Any other suggestions welcome.
You might be able to use APP or another filament markers perhaps?

You are right, GAP 43 sometimes it seems to be descriptive more of axonal sprouting and not specific for axonal regeneration. Most probably what you are searching for is axonal tracing (anterograde i.e. Cortico-Spinal-Tract and/or retrograde i.e. the sensory tracts). Axonal tracing is more informative in terms of the anatomical picture of the injured axons and their faith, is this what you are searching for?

Thank you Ghanami al-Khaledi for the information. Actually I am looking for the immunohistochemical marker. Of course as you mentioned tracing is one of the best for the regeneration studies after the lesion.

I did the IH GAP-43 in SCI rat, it took me awhile to standardize it but it the results were good (full text @ RG).
for CAP-23 I dot have experience with it, But I hope the attached herewith literature will be helpful to you.
