We have problems finding a marker for plasma cells. CD138 antibodies (which is used in the literature) are not working in our lab. Any other suggestions?
Plasma cells markedly down-regulate surface markers. The classical way to detect/enumerate them is by enzyme-linked immunospot assay (ELISPOT) that detect B cells secreting antigen-specific antibodies.
I am working on human plasma cells, so not sure whether similar will apply for mouse, but the markers i am using to define plasma cells are: CD27+CD38++ and CD138. Antibodies are from eBioscience and are working fine.
