I will be taking gDNA from isolated bacteria cultured from soil samples. I would like to use restriction enzymes and then use a chemically competent E. coli with multiple cloning sites. The only purpose of this is to purely clone, I won't sequence after.

Dear Misti Correct me if I m wrong, you are planing to isolate bacterial genomic DNA then will digest it with restriction enzyme (s) and finally will clone the fragments??? Am I right?
You can use:
Restriction enzymes from New England Biolabs or Fermentas
For plasmid isolation or purification of DNA Fermentas or Real Biotech Corporation kits
E. coli DH10B as chemically competent bacteria
