We are going to measure baroreflex sensitivity based on sequence and spectral method. For the sequence method we need the number of up/down sequences, and also we need to play with the criteria of sequence definition; min IBI change, min BP change, min sequence length, lag, correlation coefficient. Also, we need to locate each sequence. Do you have suggestion and experience with the available software?
Dear Ali,
No free software is available in the market, as far as my knowledge goes. Nevrokard BRS software from Slovenia is available, but it is chargeable. However, you can download the trial version of the software where some of the important features are disabled. I am using this software for BRS analysis. Further, you need to record the blood pressure on a beat to beat basis and require the IBI or RR interval data to analyse the BRS.

Hi Ali: The best way is to use а generic software like MatLab or Spike2 to write your own codes for processing and analysis of BP and IBI pairs. Sure, your Univ. has licenses for both. I have used Spike2 script language for playing with different parameters for BRS calculation, its afferent and efferent components, lags, length, thresholds, outliers, order, etc. See my publications from 2007. A recent one was published this year.
It was a free DOS software, very old and not very flexible, but suitable for BRS analysis. Developed probably by Andrew Steptoe. I used it about 15 years ago to compare my outputs with its.

Here in Brazil we use de CardioSeries, which was developed by a PhD student in the Heart Institue (InCOR). It does spectral analysis, time domain, symbolic and BRS analysis.
