Summer pruning in the rabbiteye blueberry "Tifblue" induced flowering in the basal area of shoots rather than apical area which naturally occur in blueberry.
from the mechanisms of this regulation, i'm looking for the role of phytohormones.
If we pruned blueberry than all auxins those are producing via photosynthesis will deposit there that's why it produces flowers below the cut, not only in summer even if we pruned the rabbiteye blueberry in late october we "ll get same results
I m sharing my experience with u, thats why i can't provide u any reference now but i "ll try to find few good references for u.
as u asked me about roles of phytohormones.:- Phytohormones regulates both reproductive and vegetative growth such as auxins, flower stimulus. phytohormones plays major role in sex expression into plants. these hormones regulates apical dominance, dormancy, flower induction and delaying senescence( cytokinins).
I attached a pdf, u can see roles of phytohormones here
Thanks Dear Ashok, there are references about role of auxin in regulating vegetative/reproductive growth of plants, e.g. Arabidopsis. but what I'm asking is any work on role of phytohormones (any reference) with regard to flowering regulation at least in the shoots of Vaccinum family ?
and you said, auxin accumulation is the cause, you know there is not only auxin in the shoots, other hormones are also playing their roles and do not letting auxin to freely play its role (antagonism and interplay). Sorry, I might not put a clear sentence, but the question is not that basic.
