I agree with Kenneth in thinking it was a coincidence. Monsoon rains are scanty in this part of the Himalaya during October, but there are occasional rains, either from late monsoons or early westerlies. I have not heard of persistent pattern of rainfalls following earthquakes, big or small. It has been, however, suggested in a couple of papers that earthquakes follow heavy rains in seismically active areas; but this also needs global scale statistical verification.

I do not know exactly what you mean by release of geothermal energy. But there are hot spring occurrences in several active fault zones. The nearest example to you is the western flank of the rapidly rising Nanga Parbat Massif, where hot springs occur along the Liachar Fault. This fault has also been a cause of major landslides in the Indus River that follows it near Rakhiot (now Raikot!). In 1850s, an entire mountainside slipped down, causing the damming of the river. When the dam was burst open, it caused a massive flood that swept an regiment of the Sikh army stationed near Attock, several kilometers downstream.

Very thanks for fruitful comments and suggestion. I also well aware of monsoon phenomena. I also well aware of role of topography related to precipitation. Sorry for the misconception or misunderstanding to geothermal energy. I meant the energy released due to earthquake or energy released due to fault blocks relative movement. I mean to see or explore the relationship between precipitation and regional-scale thrusts/Km-scale along great Himalayas perhaps may be indicative of active fault segments.

I am skeptical that earthquakes could induce precipitation events. The energy release has little effect on the atmosphere which receives the energy as longitudinal acoustic waves. The ground-shaking transverse waves are shear waves that are not transmitted in fluid media such as air. So without a significant connection to the atmosphere I would suppose that the energy must be dispersed and dissipated within the earth.The Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 probably would have appreciated a rain event, however, since it was the ensuing fire that caused the greatest devastation to the city.

Still I am looking for answers: The energy released into atmosphere due to relative movement of fault blocks (thermal or heat energy due to friction) when an earthquake occur. Before me the examples are 2005 Kashmir/Pakistan and recent Nepal earthquakes have brought rainfall/precipitation events.

precipitation data from last couple of years may help? if it shows event on the same locality for longer period then you can think about fault movement and its relation to climatic events. People doing cosmogenic studies often compare there data with raintfall data as a proxy for active fault movements..

Little of the energy released in a major earthquake is in the form of heat and the several kilometer depth of these earthquakes argues against any of the heat actually reaching the earth's surface and atmosphere. To release sufficient heat and transfer it to the atmosphere to produce a precipitation event would be very noticable to those at the earthquake site - the ground would get hot!

Frictional heat is likely more important in faults that are undergoing aseimic slip in which some partial melting of crushed rock within the fault may occur. But again the heat would be quickly dissipated within the enclosing rock mass.

But the waters are muddied. Ben Davidson of Space Weather News maintains that earthquakes, major storms and volcanic eruptions are triggered by solar activity. I don't think that he has associted localized preciptation events with earthquakes but posible solar effects, I should think, would be more likely to produce rain than energy from the earthquake itself.

I am very skeptical of there being a direct connection between solar activity and earthqukes on earth but the sun is our parent body and I suppose that one should not underestimate the capabilities of one's parents.

Well, there are documented cases of the so-called "earthquake weather" phenomenon when heavy precipitation has been reported after some or strong earthquakes. The reason is not energy release, but dust released from an earthquake can cause condensation in the air and rain starts falling.

A similar event is dust from forest fire can start the rain although the weather report says no rain today! My geography class and I witnessed such an event. It came when we were discussing precipitation mechanisms in class. It could not have been a better time! The students were thrilled. The air at the time was full of red dust like from a dust storm.

As far as energy released into the air during an earthquake, there must be some in some form, but it has not been studied or reported to my knowledge. Some experts talk about it.

this link is of a paper describing hydrological anomalies connected to earthquakes yet it looks lacking precipiation/rainfall just after earthquake event. I am searching for the relatioship which I asked as a question in RG.

Yet I am hopeful to find the relationship. If I could not be able to find any literature then I will try to find or explore the relationship on self-dependent research. Rainfall just after the Kashmir earthquake event is a fact and cannot be rejected. I think rainfall to occur just after earthquake is not an accidental event although we have not been able to probe the relationship.

during earthquakes there are phenomena which produce a wide range of waves of different frequencies in the earth crust. The sliding huge plaques first of all have a huge friction before and during the Quake. The rising of the temperature is a phenomenon which was detected several times just before the Earthquake here in my town too, stricken by at least 2 big earthquakes during the last century made up of about 50 perceivable episodes.

But again the heat would be quickly dissipated within the enclosing rock mass.

As you know the thermal capacity of the rocks is not even comparable to the one of water. The rock mass do not dissipate anything but transmit or disperse the heatflux rising their temperature. The heat which reaches the earth crust through the rocks remains there and is detectable before spreading into air or water. 

Actually during earthquakes there are also other phenomena such as thunderstorms. I don't want to enter in this particular cases because this begins to be a matter of speculation.

I found a thesis and selected the following statement from discussion chapter.

"The data indicate there is a general increase in both occurrence of the number of landslides and the magnitude-frequency of landslides after an earthquake followed by a large precipitation event".

Perhaps it looks supporting to write " an earthquake followed by a large precipitation event".

Tectonic earthquakes are mostly the result of internal processes. A direct relation between earthquake occurrence and subsequent precipitations is very unlikely. As for landslides, they are more frequent after precipitation, particularly heavy precipitation, water plays a role in triggering those landlides which were already quasi-critically ready to slide.

I agree with Dr Karaki.

Both earthquake and heavy precipitation trigger landslides. The combination of the two would add to their frequency and magnitude (perhaps more so when heavy precipitation precedes earthquake). But I am not sure if earthquakes can cause precipitation.
