About "Bare" defect of cured tires (sidewall/pattern), most companies use external paint; Any recommendations to overcome tire bareness without using external paint?
The whitewalls and the stenciled lettering or logos on tires are also vulcanized rubber. They are not painted on. I have seen where it is an applique to the inside of the tire molds, and it adheres to the tire. Sort of like how chocolate molds are painted with different colors and then back filled.
If you are referring to raised / stenciled graphics which appear to serve no structural purpose, that is a different argument and issue. That is a potential area for economizing on the amount of materials used. Part of the problem is that thin markings will scuff off easily unless they are thick.
IMO, they also pose a safety risk, as the differential stresses due to the thickness can be a source of failures. I have attached an unedited photo of a failed tire from my own car. Note how the tears follow the border of the raised area - in a most ironic way.
Anyway, I know that is not much help, nor do I think I understand your question. at least the photo is food for thought about the failure modes some of these aesthetics might introduce to a design.
