Hello everyone, I would like to measure hemichannel activity in astrocyte cells using EtBr. However, due to the risks associated with EtBr, I am seeking an alternative. Can the Nucleic Acid Staining Solution used in gel electrophoresis serve as a substitute? Alternatively, please recommend another suitable buffer I could use.

Yes Methylene blue, and crystal violet can be used as alternatively instead of ETBR, while Sybr green can also be used

Hello, there are many alternative dyes to etbr on the market. Fluorescent dyes such as SYBR are more preferred, but these dyes are a little more expensive. You can get more detailed information about alternatives from your own material supplier. I wish you luck
