I need to verify vertically loaded single drilled shaft modelling by plaxis 3D and i am doing my best to verify that by searching and making models, So may any one can help me by any publication contains that?
1. How many soil layer data is used and is the required soil parameters available for that layer (lab results or by correlation). Data per m depth is needed to have a very acvurate model.
2. How many solid elements used and what is the mesh size. Mesh size should be smaller than drilled shaft diameter. Circular shape requires finer mesh.
At least quadratic interpolation element should be used.
3. Is there any large settlement anticipated that requires the use of interface element between concrete and soil, also depends on roughness of concrete surface
4. Soil constitutive model used (plaxis soil softening or hardening models) dependa on water content and soil type (sand, clay, silt, rock)
5. Load type (static or dynamic)
6. Load step and iteration control
7. Fixity at pile top (fixed head, free head)
8. Any soil improvemen or compaction at top surface
Due to many considerations above, and uncertainties of soil parameters used (sometimes can be 50-100pct difference), usually the model is verified by results from pile loading test (static) or PDA test (dynamic).
Did you read some publications by Fellenius (http://www.fellenius.net) and co-workers? Recently (end of April 2017) there was "The 3rd Bolivian International Conference on Deep Foundation", where pile installation methods as well as loading tests have been discussed intensively.
I do not know if you still need help or not. Here are some papers including verified numerical modeling with some experimental data. The approach, basic assumption, soil and pile properties, soil-pile interface properties, and other details are available.
