Sugarcane filter cake is one of the sugar industry waste which produce in a large quantities and has a potency to process as a biomass. What is the future idea for the utilization of sugarcane filter cake in industry?
My opinion is that sugarcane filter cake is ideal for the manufacturing of high quality biochar. Pending of the quality of the biochar e.g. cation adsorption capacity, pH water retention, it could be used in soil remediation, soil fertility, soil microbe absorption to enhance growth and improve overall soil health. Or it could be used as a filter or adsorbant of heavy metals in fluids or purification of heavy metal polluted water. In total it is an ideal method for carbon sequestration.

Main components of press mud are moisture (50–65%), fibre (15–30%), crude wax (5–14%), sugar (5–15%), crude protein (5–15%) and nitrogen (2–2.5%).
