Suppose the independent variable is food insecurity and dependent is mental health is dependent. while I do EFA for food insecurity the first factor only explain small percentatage like less than 34% of variance and the second explains only 21%. if I decide to to extract only one factor there will be unexplained variance (64%) and regress the model what source of bias do I introduce? is there any mechanism could be used to adjust for this unexplained variance?
