Hi all, I had an original set of 30 Qs with 3 possible responses (Yes, No, Don't Know). Some Qs have reverse coding and mixed coding. Because this survey measures specific literacy in young children, I need to reduce the number of Qs to 10 in my final survey. The chronbach's alpha for the pilot study was 0.848. All students answered 2 Qs perfectly.

I need to understand how to:

1. eliminate Qs- what parameters can I rely on to do this

2. perform alternate analysis when I am not able to perform factorial analysis due to the lack of variability in some of the data

3. Pick out my final 10 Qs and the survey should still shows high reliability (.8 or higher).

Any suggestions you have is much appreciated.
