Has anyone worked with 1-DL-Methyl Tryptophan? I am facing a problem with stock preparation of 1-DL-MT. The problem is a precipitation issue as soon as the pH of 0.1 N NaOH (having 1-MT; pH-10.5) is lowered to 8.5. I have to use it for cell culture, so want this stock at pH~ 7.4. Any suggestions?
try dissolving it at 100X your desired final concentration in DMSO. Many compounds like this are quite insoluble at the relatively high concentrations used for stock reagents. It is important to make it as concentrated as possible in the DMSO so that the amount of DMSO added to cells/enzymes does not exceed 1-2%.

Initially I too thought of preparation of the stock in DMSO, but since in the papers where 1-MT has been used, they suggest this protocol of NaOH and HCl.
But certainly now I will try to prepare my stock in DMSO.
