I just started working on a protein and when I checked the Instability Index (II) on ProtParam, I got a value of 56,94. I don't really know what to make of that. Does this relate to the half-life span under room temperature? So could I extend the span if I stored it at 4°C or -20°C? As I always get additional smaller bands on my Westernblots, is it possible that that is the degraded protein?
I also read online that ProtParam might be outdated as it is pretty old, but I could only find online-tools which are based on ProtParam. Could you recommend another tool? Do you even use it at all?
