I would like to know the general range of permeability (P = D*k/L where D diffusion constant, k partition coefficient, L cell wall + cell membrane thickness) of antibiotics across gram-positive bacteria (e.g. B. subtilis) cell wall + membrane. We would like to estimate how much time it takes for the bacteria to uptake antibiotics, particularly rifamycin and streptolydigin. Thanks!

Important question but you might need to do quiet an averaging. Since, due to the normal heterogeneity in the microbial population, all cells would not react the same and also the concentration of antibiotics also needs to be considered, for your time question. For permeability, it would depend on the interaction of cell wall and antibiotics molecule, and that might also depend on the diffusibility of the molecule across the wall.
