Hello! Could you suggest a proper analytical method to quantify the number of each bacterial species of interest: Azotobacter chroococcum, Rhizobium leguminosarum, Bacillus megaterium, Frateuria aurantia?
It should specifically identify and count each species.
Thank you very much, Prof. Antoun! Yes, this commercial product contains a mixture of 4 bacteria. The client needs some very simple, classical and cheap method.
You can use standard dilution plate method, however you won't be able to identify the bacteria to the specie. For example you can quantify all bacteria from Azotobacter genus following Fenglerowa (1965) method.
For B. megaterium you could use HiChrome Bacillus Agar http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/sial/92325?lang=en®ion=NL
