Dear Sadia,

In my last lab specialized in gut physiology, we used FITC-sulfonic acid to assess paracellular permeability and HRP to assess transcellular permeability. These compound can be used in vivo or ex-vivo (Ussing Chambers). It can be used also in 'in vitro" assay with transwell filters but using cellular models. You can look at Neunlist. M et al bibliography for methods.
