Recent evidence from the university of Guelph has suggested that a functional AMPK is required to regulate PGC1alpha translocation to various muscle cell compartments. This adds more evidence to the idea of AMPK being a master regulator of endurance exercise dependant responses/adaptations. However AMPK may be dispensable for certain excise responses. So is AMPK a master regulator of exercise responses/adaptatoins or is it simply a marker?
