What are other alternative to HF-based palynological technique that is less dangerous, cheaper and hopefully produce a same or better result? I am thinking of using an alternative to extract my chtinozoan samples.
Here's a paper describing an alternative to HF in palynological sample preparation:
Riding, J. B., & Kyffin-Hughes, J. E. (2004). A review of the laboratory preparation of palynomorphs with a description of an effective non-acid technique. Revista Brasileira de Paleontologia, 7(1), 13-44.
James B. Riding & Jane E. Kyffin‐Hughes (2006) Further testing of a non‐acid palynological preparation procedure, Palynology, 30:1, 69-87. James B. Riding & Jane E. Kyffin‐Hughes (2007) An effective palynological preparation procedure using hydrogen peroxide, Palynology, 31:1, 19-36.
Once I've tried the 'Hydrogen peroxide' method, with poor results.
Thank you so much for the responses. I do have some concern on the quality and the speed of the technique however. It would be a great help if people who had any experience in using these alternative techniques to give more response.
