I am thinking of finding new fossil localities for the project. Problem is, I'm not sure how and where to start. Any tips from experienced palaeontologist would be a great help, thanks!
It depends on what kind of fossils you are looking if you are looking for larger mammals and birds you should target rocky, sandy and ice covered localities where you can find skeleton and othet hard remains in rock, sand and ice belt....
Review the scientific literature to learn the fossiliferous strata near you. Once you've determined which rocks have fossils in them, systematically visit outcrops of those rocks. Select locations for being easy to get to. Visit each one. I will often use a broom to sweep the ground surface to collect material. Visit as many sites as you can as often as you can.
