I've been having some problems with the precipitation of collagen proteins from marine residues that I have solubilized on 0.5M acetic acid.
I've tried some protocols which require the neutralization of the containing collagen solution near the isoelectric point of collagen (ph 7), followed by the addition of NaCl to a final concentration of 2.6M and nothing seemed to happen; even when the solutions were kept overnight with stirring at 4°C. I've even increased the salt concentrations progressively to the point of oversaturation in which I obviously obtained a precipitation of salt but no proteins. I've also tried with ammonium sulfate instead of NaCl and nothing.
I was wondering if there is something different to be done in order to facilited the precipitation
