I am looking for aerogel applications, properties and also environmental impact (fuel consumption, emissions, etc) in the automotive industry, especially in the high performance field. In particular, I am interested in applications where it covers the engine or the exhaust, however, any other uses would be useful.
It would be great if you could also provide some data and documents.

I fear, aerogels are rather useless, other wise car industry would use it. I have never heart about it.
Can it be used as thermal firewall between car and engine. I imagined you can sandwich metallic shell and aerogel in the middle to create strong yet lightweight firewall with the car. The aerogel used can be those injectable kind.
