In such a case that more than a scholarship are awarded to a person from different universities, is it ethical, professional and advantageous to mention the self-rejected scholarships in the CV?
For instance one got two fellowships/scholarships and choose one of them; can the other fellowship/scholarship be added to CV?
As legal issues I do not really know about that. But as proving having a scholarship, one can have the scholarship letter to prove it.
I think honesty is the key point but assume you have a scholarship which you took and you had been proposed another one (which obviously was gained since the fellowship/scholarship source thought you had the eligibility to propose it to you) which you have not taken; is stating it like that controversial in terms of honesty and ethical issues?
I would say, based on my limited experience, not to put it on the CV but if offered an interview, you can mention it, such as, "it was so hard to choose between the two positions," etc.
I also had the same question. A couple of my mentors have suggested using the same language that Ian Kennedy (above) recommended: "Offered, but not taken up".
