The scenario in PMSM motor is, in range of high speed (field weakening) if inverter get a short circuit it is not advisable to just open the switches, becuase due to motor back EMF and diode free wheeling action battery can get a high voltage, so we do active short circuit keep the switch temp and speed in consideration.
Now what will happen in the same scenario when we use Induction motor? In PMSM magnets keep the flux constant hence phenomena of back EMF acting back makes more sence, will it be the same for Induction motor as well?

It depends on the remaining induction in the rotor.
Usually there will not be any significant back EMF in the induction motor
In the case of induction motor, if all the switches are open, there will not be any significant flux left in core (residual flux in the core will be negligible) . Voltage generated in stator coil of induction motor will not be significant even if the motor is operated above rated speed in field weakening region before opening the switches. Therefore Active short circuit is not required for induction motor unlike in the case of PMSM motor.
