If you are running 3 diff LC instrument in the lab 1)Waters LC/MS QTOF, ELSD 2)Agilent 1260 and 3) Agilent1100 system also for analyzing would it make sense to go with an ACDSpectrus processor software rather than MassHunter or MassLynx?
Please let me know any experience, I have only used MassHunter before with an Agilent QTOF or ACDSpectrus with Bruker NMR data, I found ACD better than MNova for NMR data but not sure about its ability with MS data, (we want TIC, EIC and fragmentation data). From what I understand the ACD software can analyze and both Agilent and Waters format of MS data and incorporate it together with any other types of characterization such as UV, NMR, IR, CD etc
ACD provides a unified interface for NMR, LC, LC-MS, and many other data types, and will make the final plots look the same style for your report/publication. This can be more preferable than, for example, to use ChemStation for HPLC, TopSpin for NMR, and MassHunter for LC-MS.
MestreNova can do pretty much the same thing, but the interface is quite different and will need some getting used to.
On the flip side, all instruments come with their default programs that are "free", while ACD Spectrus or MestreNova are not (and not cheap, either). At the end the selection needs to be based on what your needs, how much resources you have at your disposal, and if you have someone available to teach you how to use the software (believe me, going through hundreds of pages of user manual to learn how to use the app is not fun).
Do you have a license for ACD/Spectrus? If so, you can go to Help --> Getting Started and select LC/UV/MS or MS and you can probably see if it can do what you want. You can also open a dataset and play with it to see if you can do what you want it to do. I find that their help guides are pretty good, though I often go into the folder in Program Files and open the help manual that way (when you have it open through the software you can't always view it and the software window simultaneously).
You could also contact ACD and tell them what you'd like to do and they will probably point you to in the right direction. They do webinars and tutorials, which are located in the Resources section of their website.
