I would like to know of my partners what you tink about use of interactive simulation in the teaching of chemistry, specially, the Interactive Simulation PhET by University of Colorado at Boulder. I have used this didatic tool in my chemistry classes and my students have been accepted very well this feature. I would like to read your opinions.
Dear Flávio I am convinced that any existent help you could use in order to improve your student learning has to be included in your teacher toolbox. The interactive simulations have many advantages, one is related to the computer oriented nature of our young students but for me the most important factor in order to support interactive graphic simulation in video or 3D images is linked with the visual learning style of the mainstream of our students. I teach chemistry to first year engineer students and I researched about learning styles by using Richard Felder model. The results of my research shows that the proportion of visual students versus verbal students is highly skewed as most of them prefer visual style. Then, according to my research results there are little room to doubt about the advantages of using visual aids to improve our student learning of any subject but specially of chemistry when the phenomena occurs at micrsocopic level but we have to interpret, use and appliy the outcomes in a macroscopic level.

I am planning to conduct a study on the effect of Phet's Interactive Simulation to the Performance and Interest of my Chemistry students. I will also integrate the relation/ effect of the software even to non-visual learners (the basis of classification, i.e, visual or verbal will be through the ILS instrument of Dr, Felder).
Elmer Irene, thanks very much.. I have applied some of simulations in my classroom. However, in this moment, I'm remodeling my proposal about how to work inside classroom. I would like to continue write to you and to know more about your investigation...
@Flavio, hows your study on simulations? I think by this time you have already some answers to your investigation? Can you pls share ideas?
I also have a current study on interactive simulation. I am planning to use mobile apps but I have not come up yet with a very good one. I am planning to use what is at present.
