In abaqus, if we define a part as deformable and then later impose rigid body constraints on it .Does the mechanical property of that part will really affect the simulation?
1) that part i define as diamond
2) that part i define as steel
results would be same i think.
Yse, like I said; the mass of the rigid body would have a significant effect on the results if it has kinetic energy, for example impacting a rigid projectile to a deformable plane. greater density means greater mass and results in greater impact energy.
but if the rigid body is fixed and it doesn't move at all, it's property has no effect on the results.
I guess. Rigid body means no deformation: no stress-strain relationship.
In some cases, yes! for example if the rigid body has a none zero kinetic energy, then its density will affect the simulation. but it wouldn't deform at all.
I am not concerned about the simulation time but Does it change the results in any way??

I think that the mass of the rigid body is not affected by the density property, but rather by a inertia one.
that means if rigid body is displaced and so it's material property came into picture .
Ex- if a die is compressing a rivet and if die is made rigid by constraints then properties of die also may affect the simulation.
the mass of the rigid body is affected by the density and the volume! you can run two simulations with two different densities and see the difference in "KE".
in the die compression example, if the problem is quasi static and you're using General-Static solver, changes in "KE" is negligible comparing to total energy, so the property of the rigid punch is not important and you can also use mass-scaling.
but if you're using dynamic explicit solver, and the strain rate is noticeable, then you should be careful about the density of the punch.

The density property don't affect the mass of piece which is supposed rigid, but the inertia property affects this mass, for example in the impact problem.
