Dear researchers,
Merck Co. introduced a withdrawal system with manual pressure build-up for solvents in bottles (See the attached photo). Using this equipment to remove solvents is safe, easy and contamination-free.
However, what if we do not have this equipment?
What is your method in your laboratory? Could you please explain how you use toxic solvents from Merck jars?

Foroogh Khodadadi -----Foroogh, I’m surprised you have no alternatives. The Merck withdrawal system with manual pressure is a variation on typical lab procedure. I’m in the US, we call them volume bulbs or pipette bulb. It made of a material to resist most lab chemicals (often silicone). Below are links to the bulb and variations on using it. I have been using a pipette until now. But in my opinion, using a pipette, even though it is immaculate and clean, can introduce contamination into the substance over time.
Therefore, I wanted to know another way, similar to MERCK's valve system.

Foroogh Khodadadi ...........Foroogh I didn't consider contamination over repeated use. The Merck system is designed to be re-used and likely -over time- also introduce contaminates. I suggest that is a problem with the Merck system as well. Until we learn more I suggest (separate posting) asking the ResearchGate community how to prevent - minimize might be best - this problem. - - - You could explore UV light. Exposing the glassware to UV light prior to each use should yield good results.

Yes! Using UV light must be a very good suggestion for reducing the contamination amount that enters the substances over time.
