I presume we talk here about “Point of Care” by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins Ltd. part of Wolters Kluwer Health. ISSN 15330303, 1533029X Indeed all links towards this journal and your paper seem ‘dead’. However the journal has a proper Scopus indexing (https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/4700152791) and indexed in ESCI (you can check here: https://mjl.clarivate.com/home ). The publisher behind it is pretty reliable so there must be a good explanation for all this.

I think that Wolters Kluwer Health is restructuring their websites right now. It is indeed somewhat strange (and stronger: disrespectful to their customers to provide no information). But I am pretty sure that this will be resolved soon. If you want confirmation you might ask the editor or someone else with whom you had contact during the submission proces.

Dear Rahma Menshawey There may be more than one possibility. The first possibility is that the journal might be restucturing and updating its website, and soon the updated version will appear. The second, the journal might be in the process of changing its publishing partner. And, the third possibility might be that you have published with a fraud online predatory journal.

Possible case of a predatory journal.

In all explanations as stated above, I would say this shows the importance of choosing a journal with good indexing in a well-established database. Unlike one of the suggestions of Dr Arbind K. Choudhary above that it could be as a result of changing their publisher, even if a journal would join another publisher, the previous one would still state clearly that the so-so journal is joining or has moved on with another publisher with the new link and assurance that the previously published articles are thus intact in their archive. I had this well-informed experience with Kaohsiung Medical Journal when changing from Elsevier to Wiley. In conclusion, I am of the strong opinion that it is most likely the journal was predatory or less likely updating their website, knowing well that any serious journal, when updating their sites, would definitely state this on their website.

Dear Dr. Rob Keller Yes this is the journal, it is a reliable one. I did contact the editor and was told that the journal is on hiatus due to decrease submissions due to Covid. I was told if I wish to submit something new then to consider another journal. Right now I'm mainly concerned about the previous work I published there as all working links are not available and the work is not available to be seen. Indeed it would have been appropriate to be informed by the publisher of these changes, as I had found out about this randomly. Thank you for your answer.

Thank you Dr. Arbind K. Choudhary for your answer. The journal is not a predatory one as it is it indexed. The journal is Point of Care published by Wolters Kluwer Health. The journal links are dead because LWW is putting many journals on hiatus due to decreased submissions due to COVID. The publishers have not bothered to inform the authors or make a post about this at all. I was told about the hiatus by the Editor. I was informed that the journal has gone on a hiatus due to decreased submissions due to COVID and all links are currently dead and not accepting submissions. It is bizarre that LWW did not make a formal announcement regarding which journals they are putting on hiatus, without informing their clients.

Dr Rahma Menshawey thank you for your clarification. I am still confused that the expected essence of abstracting and indexing in this role was nowhere to be found!. Assuming Ovid died with their journal, how on earth would indexed published materials disappear from the likes of Embase, Scopus, and Thomson Reuters' databases (such as Biosis and SCIE) and MOST SURPRISINGLY an account maintained by the United States National Library of Medicine? This is terrible!!!

There is also a print edition of “Point of Care”, but, e.g., there are no holdings in Germany (https://zdb-katalog.de/title.xhtml?idn=988908565&view=full). This means that your publication is not lost completeley, although access will be difficult. Hopefully, Rob Keller is right that the website will re-appear soon. But there is a general problem with online journals: Who will provide access when the publisher decided to close it or when the publishing house is closed completely? Will only the existing illegal sites have copies of the papers then?

By the way, the word "decommission" in this URL is suspicious and could indicate that the journal has been discontinued.

Wolfgang R. Dick I didn't notice the word decommission till you mentioned it. I will try to contact the publisher for more info. If indeed it has, then what are my next steps? Am I allowed to resubmit this manuscript elsewhere?

Your paper is regarded as being published, because there is a print edition even if the online edition has disappeared. To re-publish it, usually you need the permission of the publisher. However, first try to contact them to ask what happened.
