As all of you know, healthy women frequently have greater numbers of potentially pathogenic bacteria, in their bladders, than healthy men, but nothing gets done to eliminate them, as this is considered a harmless, normal condition for women. On the other hand, when men have this many bacteria in their bladders, this is a cause for concern (or so I heard) and oral antibiotics are prescribed to kill them. Why is that so? Are men more vulnerable than women to higher levels of bacteria in their bladders? Could this be because these extra bacteria can infect the prostate and other male structures?
