That is far too long to wait fr any journal and the lack of response from the editorial team is disappointing. I suggest you email again and state your intention to submit elsewhere. Keep a copy of the email you send. You can also try withdrawing your article via the journals online system.

Duration of response from journal editor is depending on several factors like the expected duration mentioned in the journal website, publication by yearly / half-yearly / quarterly etc., popular / very niche research topic of your manuscript, availability of subject matter expert / reviewers to review your manuscript etc. Generally 7 months are quite long. Perhaps you can email to the editor to inquire the status.

I would send it to another Journal and should you get it accepted, then write the first Journal letting Them know you wish to withdraw it.

Send a letter of withdrawal and submit it to another journal. Normally there is always a response as to rejected, accepted or need to be revised.

Same story this side I submitted two paper in mid 2017 but not yet published.. what i see in status section is “ under review “ .. i think thts too long time.. the paper looses it relevance is such long time.

some papers have some problem with the reviewer because some reviewer accepts to do the reviewing and after that, they don't replay their rapport. the consequence is a loss of time. after that editor make a time to find a new reviewer where he will make new time...

It's the problem of researcher...

Since you'd written several times to the editor and no response from him / her. Perhaps you can email to the editor for the last time indicating your plan to withdraw & submit to another journal. Keep all these mail threads & in-actions from the editor side as your supporting documents in case there is any dispute in the future. Wishing you all the best in your next submission.

Annually they may not bother to reply any manuscript until they are about to publish, as such the delay time would vary from journal to journal depending on the frequency of publication. Although the editor should at least reply your mail. Check frequency of publication and the month of publication of previous edition before you remove or withdraw your publication

It isn't reasonable. A journal editor who fails to keep in touch with authors causes great loss to the journal as many would withdraw their papers and resubmit the paper to another journal.

Of course not, it is not reasonable at all.

Most unreasonable and unethical.Better identify and avoid such journals.

While submitting the paper in journal whether you have directly submitted or on your presentation you have received & confirmatory action from the editor regarding your paper . In the first case if you have not received any acknowledgement you have to merely ignore & should not send any further remainder as your action has an direct approach with the journal .

In this case without waiting for the reply of your email if you desire you can directly submit your paper to journal with whom you desire to submit the same .

In case if they have acknowledge & sent an email to you in this case you may arrange to send a final remainder & to wait for their reply for about 2 weeks & afterwards you may arrange to take a due action in the line of your planning .

Most of the journals usually provide review comments (major revision/minor revision/rejection) within few months time. However, 7 months is too long a time. Moreover, you have not got any reply to your three emails. I don't think the Journal editor is behaving responsibly and professionally. It may be better to send another email to the journal editor informing him/her about your intention to withdraw your manuscript and submit it to some other better journal.

That’s a pretty long time span the review an article

You should have check the response period of the outlet before submission. Also, check if the outlet still publishes articles of recent to know whether it functions. Sometimes the delay might be from reviewers or still waiting for the minimum number response from reviewers. Also confirm that the mail is directed to the Editor or better still get the institutional e-mail of the Editor through google search and mail hin/her. If all the options prove negative, withdraw your paper and send it to better outlet.

I concur with others -- very unreasonable. I agree that you should send a withdrawal letter, and submit elsewhere.

I think the journal should have time bound response regarding evaluation of researth paper for possible publication. Some suggestions given below:

1)Within maximum 2 working days, acknowledgment for receipt of paper

2)Monthly updates about Status of review of paper

3)Within maximum 3 months, decision regariding acceptance/ review/ rejection need to be given

This will not allow research to get outdated.

Unfortunately, some editors behave like gods over the journals they coordinate. I faced even a more unpleasant experience, no any response in more than 2 years, after which I withdrew the article. During this time many articles were accepted and published in the journal (monthly issued) even after 2-3 months from the paper submission (the submission and acceptance dates are mentioned on the first page). It was easy to see that the promptly accepted papers belonged to people affiliated to the university that released the journal, often the same big names in each issue. It is absolutely abnormal, impolite, abusive. I do not know how or if such abuses can be denounced. Even if withdraw the article, the applicant loses time and confidence in the system or even worse, self-confidence.
