I got the results seen attached below before (up) and after (down) treating cells with plant extract. Can somebody help me understand why the treated cells have spaces within the monolayer. Does it suggest decrease in proliferation, death or?

Dear Stephen,
The morphology of your cells show some changes because of toxic stress (maybe), Proliferation decreased and cells already began to shrink. they are supposed to be pre-apoptotic. If you cultured your cells at the same time point, with the same medium (with and without toxic extract), in this case, the free spaces are because of the toxicity of the plant extract.
