Many years ago I did my master's thesis work in a lab studying Ribosomes. My project involved studying a small RNA molecule (4.5S RNA) in E. coli that was shown to be required for protein translation. My work suggested a possible role in the interaction of EF-G and 23S rRNA. That was about 20 years ago. Since then there has been an explosion of information about the role of RNA in many functions, but I haven't seen much concerning a role for this extremely fascinating small RNA. Are there any labs out there that are doing research in this area?
