Article Remineralisation properties of innovative light-curable resi...

The Conclusion states:

One of the main principles in minimally invasive dentistry is

based on the execution of therapeutic restorations that may

combat the carious process and remineralise the dental hard

tissues. >> Zn added as the bioactive micro-llers tested in this study represents apossible and valuable choice to remineralise dental hard tissues..... when used (as adhesive systems?) , cavity layers or temporary therapeutic materials....

Further in the excellent Article we can read :

"..... the durability of resin–dentine interface represents one of the main concerns in adhesive dentistry as it is affected by severe degradation.

This occurs mainly via water sorption and hydrolysis of monomer methacrylates ester bonds caused by salivary esterases.

The hydrolysis of collagen fibrils at the resin–dentine interface

is enhanced by activation of MMPs.

Nevertheless, the incorporation of more hydrolytically stable

resin monomers and/or the use of matrix metalloproteinase

inhibitors may not be able to address the replacement of the

mineral phase within the demineralised dentine collagen.

The use of bioactive materials which promptly interact with dental

hard tissues through therapeutic/protective effects might

provide a feasible means to extend the longevity of .....> WHAT >>???.....( resin–dentine bonds?? ) >

> IMO it's TIME to RECONSIDER the GOAL as follow :.... to extend the longevity of ... caries-affected residual tooth stucture &vitality, via remineralisation of the dentine collagen and fossilisation of MMPs !
