It is known that academic papers are expected to exhibit sophisticated language, to some extent. On the other side, writing should be as accessible as possible (i.e., simple). The question is whether to use agood, appropritae yet considerably infrequent word in a peer-revied paper or in a book for that matter? (e.g., words such as "propaedeutic", "esemplastic", "prolegomenon")

Thanks to all who take the time to share their thoughts.
