For the commercial production of Monosex tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) all male 17 methyl testostrone hormones are widely used in many parts of the Globe including Bangladesh. Though it might be rumor or not but is further claimed as the causative agents to infertility, moustache and appearing unusual hairs in different organs of women.
Would scientists can assists me concerning the matter and would we go for any alternatives to produce Monosex (Oreochromis niloticus) other than 17 methyl testostrone hormone?

Scary revelations though not surprising. synthetic sex reversal hormones are described less/ non-biodegradable, thus they may remain in the fish until dinner table. they are assumed to continue their functions in animals including humans, which may explain the revelations mentioned in the case of concern above. They are indeed effective in inhibiting or controlling reproduction in tilapia population, however they are not safe at all; being it in humans or environment. Again, several researchers have argued that synthetic hormones pose no harm if used correctly,however malpractice frequently occur during hormonal preparation and concentration. the current standardized dosage for most sex reversal hormones are argued to be high than the amount actually required for sex reversal. The effort to replace sex reversal hormones in producing male tilapia evoked recently of which i'm part of. Several herbs have been reported to posses the ability to reverse sex in fish and other animals, similar to synthetic hormones, and thus could be used to replace these hazardous chemicals. However, there is little information on the effective use of herbal extracts as tilapia sex reversal agents; hence, no commercial application reported up to date. I'm currently researching on Aloe vera as a potential sex reversal agent, growth promoter and immune stimulant at the same time. i would definitely share my findings once done.
Islam Saadeldin suggested temperature, yes temperature could be another alternative however feasibility and affordability is matter of concern surrounding this technique. I believe plant extracts as sex reversal agent in aquaculture could be the best sustainable alternative that maybe used by fish farmers at all levels. I have attached a review on trends and prospects of using herbal extracts as monosex tilapia producing agents.

Any way, What do you think about the use of electrode / electro-magnetic field to separate the male and female zygote at the early stage before hatching or during hatching that are often reported in case of Salmon (fisheries). Would we can think or search such (scope)/ alternatives. I am myself particularly waiting for your concern regarding this. Any way sincere acknowledge to you for doing such time demanding research. Thank you Dr Hossain for the wishes. on the issue of using electrode/ electro-magnetic field to seperate the male and female zygote particularly in Salmon, i'm sorry to say, i have'nt read/reviewed much about this technique in fisheries. could you perhaps provide me with some literatures? Similar to temperature; the feasibility, affordability and sustainability remain my biggest point of concern about these novel developments. thus, many struggle to progress from experimental trial to wide adoption by farmers.
