In your opinion, what are the main differences between using LaTeX and Microsoft word in typing Mathematics papers?
Which one is easier to use? takes a shorter time? gives better and nicer results?
I am using Word for long and I feel comfortable with it. On the other hand, LaTeX is a good tool to work with if you have the template. It is a bit time consuming in the beginning, but with time you will find it easier. The end output is much better in LaTeX compared to Word.
LaTeX gives better results for scientific documents but it is more complex to use as any document needs to be compiled. At the opposite, Word in interactive (no compilation) but offers less possibilities to format the document. In addition the mathematical formulae appear well written in LaTeX. It is less the case with Word.
Last point: the majority of scientific journals require the use of LaTeX and provide a LaTeX template for writting the papers.
If you are good at using the word, we can write in a similar way to LaTeX. However, some Math symbols are not available in the word as in LaTeX.
Using LaTeX is more complicated, but it gives much nicer results compared with word.
