MS Word. Most people are more familiar with Microsoft Products! LATEX becomes more beneficial for mathematicians. It save a lot of time when writing formulas and equations
It depends. For research documents with references and formulas, I definitely prefer Latex. Latex is free, platform-independent and one can even use it nicely to generate pdf-documents with python-scripts reading some input data, e.g. measurement or simulation data.
Short documents are simpler to generate with Word or LibreOffice.
There is one strange thing though. I prefer journals which offer a Latex template. But seemingly, journals do not use Latex anymore (or never did) for the actual typesetting but something else, probably some HTML-based software. Often it seems as if somebody copies the manuscript at least partially "by hand" into another software.
If somebody knew, it would be interested in the answer.
In my case, I think using LaTeX is worth it if the article has a substantial amount of mathematical equations. Otherwise, I would prefer Word. When producing a collaborative paper, I have found that Word is better since not everybody is LaTeX fluent.
To contribute to the discussion, I wrote a technical note in 2020 and 2022 titled "Introduction to LaTeX and How to Start a New Project in Overleaf". You can find below the links for the English and Portuguese versions. This text provides a quick start for Word users and briefly outlines the pros and cons of each system, along with some comparisons.
Kind Regards.
