As a radical solution to save and protect ecosystems some advocate the bioprotection of plants (use of pheromones, transgenic plants, use of microorganisms, hyperparasites, and proper soil management).
I worked with Bt crystal protein and evaluated their effects as insecticides or biopesticides on common insect pests. Also I have seen their effects on mammalian tissue upon ingestion, I found that the crystal proteins are promising but may be harmful if ingested. Also, a lot of purification processes are involved to get the active component.
So, I feel till they find a cheap and easily reproducible way to develop biopesticides (also, which is not harmful to non-targeted species), the use of chemical pesticides would continue.
Though, excessive pesticide use have harmful impacts on environment health. bio pesticide can not fully replace chemical pesticides fully in agriculture . It's because, it lacks sufficient information among the farming community. Hence, in coming few years, use of bio pesticide/bio-fertilizers can be considered as supplementary to use of synthetic chemicals use in agriculture....
I agree with Abhijeet Singh But Biopesticides are a particular group of crop protection tools used in IPM. We define a biopesticide as a mass-produced agent manufactured from a living micro-organism or a natural product and sold for the control of plant pests.

Looking at the negative impact of chemical pesticides, Biopesticides are good alternative but it has to be a collective effort which i believe with time it will be a success.
I think, all our efforts to replqace harmful pesticides (biopesticides are not so harmless for environment too) by environment-friendly tools of pest number control must be aimed to develop not only new ways of crop protection, but end-to-end assesment of all representable effects, including late complications. I dream, we shall cooperate hereafter to solve this grand problem.
No... Bio pesticides are ecofriendly.. no accumulation in the environment - environment friendly approach. It can be used for the management of short duration (short life cycle) pest. But not for long life cycle pest. Imagination is very good.... Large scale production, method of use, their effectivity against pest.... - is ?????.
Isn't that we have decided, IPM is the answer of chemical pesticide bad impacts. Pesticides are used as the last choice when pest population suppression needed at the time prevention and avoidance of pest management have been done however failed to keep pest population under its threshold level. Honestly, I am afraid we need a long time for developing bio-pesticide that having effect the same as chemical pesticide however its research and manufacture should be continued as part of attempt to decrease the use of chemical pesticide.
Agreed but it takes its own time, we need to develop sustainable IPM models like pheromones/alkaloids based products. In my opinion, chemical pesticides is not a sustainable approach.
